Youth Development Services seeks to improve student’s academic performance, behavior and social skills through academic tutoring, social and emotional support, classroom intervention and enrichment activities.

Youth Development Services is for students who may have behavioral or academic concerns and are preventing them from reaching their educational or social goals. Each case is determined on an individual basis and students must meet certain criteria to qualify for non-traditional case management.

Through Youth Development Services, school-based Youth Development Specialists (YDS) work one-on-one and in small groups to provide students with transferable skills that encourage self-discipline, self-respect and social responsibility. The YDS maintain regular contact with students who qualify for non-traditional case management and provide the following services to students:

  • Academic support in class and during study halls.
  • Enrichment opportunities.
  • Behavioral support.
  • Goal-setting skills.
  • Emotional support.
  • Attendance accountability.
  • Life/social skills.
  • Referral services.
  • Conflict resolution skills.
  • Teacher and classroom support.
  • De-escalation, reset skills.
  • Parental contact and support.
