City/County Trauma Response Network (Onondaga County)
(315) 251-2979
Contact Community Services is the point of access for the City County Trauma Response Network (CCTRN). This collaboration of city, county, non-profit and religious organizations,
responds to traumatic events which impact a community and contribute to high levels of emotional distress. CCTRN may be activated in cases of homicide, suicide, sudden death, serious assault/wounding, witness to violence, civil rights violation, abduction/missing person and terrorism. A response typically occurs within 24-72 hours of the incident. Follow-up services, such as additional debriefing or referrals to services are also provided as needed.
Intervention with those affected reduces the often-overwhelming feelings of helplessness, confusion and heightened anxiety associated with experiencing trauma. Feelings of guilt, anger and resentment can be defused, possible preventing further violence associated with an event. As a result, people become better able to utilize their natural supports and less apt to experience post-traumatic stress.
Organized teams are on-call seven days a week. Any member of the community, agency representative, police jurisdiction, fire department, hospital, school or other organization can call to request a response.
