Participants learn to:
- Identify people who have thoughts of suicide and recognize their invitation for help
- Reach out and offer help
- Understand how your beliefs and attitudes can affect suicide interventions
- Conduct a safety assessment and develop a safety plan for a person at risk
- Confirm a person’s intent to follow through on the safety plan
- Link an at-risk person with community resources
Evaluations have shown that the workshop increases caregivers’ knowledge and confidence to respond to a person at risk of suicide, that intervention skills are retained over time and that they are put to use to save lives.
